This word is not always the most common to ask how someone is doing or to say that you are doing well, but it’s the easiest: LĀBĀSلاباس. It’s easy to learn and easy to remember and that’s why we’ll start with this one. Either to ask or to respond, it’s always acceptable to use LĀBĀSلاباس. It’s also more nuanced than the other ways of asking how someone is doing and it’s a go to if you have doubts that someone is NOT doing well. By adding MAWمَو, it really sounds like: “are you okay!?” in English. To which one MUST say LĀBĀSلاباس or admit that he is not doing well, as we’ll see in the video. WĪNIKوينِك might be more common, literally meaning “where are you?”, is used as a way to ask how someone is doing. It’s for more informal settings. I have found that when you want to know where someone is, on the phone for example, it’s not good to use WĪNIKوينِك, as they will think you are asking how they are doing. In this case, we might have to add another word to mean that we are talking about the location.
